St. Brigid is one of the patron saints of Ireland, born around 450 in Co. Louth, before founding a convent in Kildare around 470. The name is also associated with a much older celtic goddess, called Brigid or Bríd, daughter of the Dagda.

Straw effigies of her were said to ensure bountiful harvests, and she is associated with healing and turning water into beer - both via brewing and miraculous means.

We hope St Brigid will ensure a plentiful supply of beer at Funcon 2: Better than a thousand angry wasps! 🍺🍻🍺
